A Good Word

“Some things take insane bravery, but after that you’ll be free.” ~ M.M. Weij

I came across this quote one early, Monday morning before work, and it has since stuck with me.

It is the good kind of stuck. I want my mind to mull over it for a long while because it has given me newfound hope.

This quote immediately set the tone for the remainder of my day. In fact, it was the best Monday I had in weeks.

I love a good word that can instill wisdom, inspiration, and hope simultaneously. I also know I am not alone with this predilection.

Upon reading this one, I literally felt enveloped in the courage to take on all the things I have been too scared to venture in for my life, all while laying in bed being comforted by warm covers and the knowledge that I had at minimum forty-five minutes before I needed to get up for work.

It gave me peace, encouragement, and the desire to take initiative on objectives I have held off because of fear.

Why?

Because I wanted to experience the freedom mentioned at the very end of the quote.

I was ready and actually wanting to embrace hard aspects of my work and personal life with a massive amount of courage I do not naturally possess.

I was not only ready to take on a new responsibility at work, but also tackle the inner me I hold back daily in many areas of my life due to fear.

Fear of what exactly?

Failure, not being good enough, being forgotten about by a loved one, being misjudged, missing out, saying goodbye, being behind in life, being too much, doing the wrong thing, etc.

Well, you get the picture. You name it; I have probably feared it.

I even held my breath as I began writing this post, because I feared my speaking on this quote would somehow cheapen its value.

That seems silly, right?

Most of these fears have this factor in common: an inability to take risks.

You could even say it is the inability to: take action, initiative, try new things, put yourself out there, etc.

Looking at the above, I can say I am certified in declining risks.

While I have had others point out I am risk averse, I never really knew what to do with the information to make positive changes to create a more fulfilled life for myself and actually begin taking more risks.

This is why I am such a big fan of mulling over the quote above.

While I could go on and provide the list of things I have avoided in my life due to fear, I do not want to waste your precious, reading time because that is ultimately not the point of this post.

We also do not have the time.

The point of this post is to present this insightful, life advice in a digestible manner that will hopefully give you the desire to take inventory of your own life and see if you are doing any of the above things, like I have, out of fear.

What are you not doing in your life right now because fear is holding you back?

Who are you not reaching out to?

What are you not taking action on?

What changes are you not making?

Whatever it may be, not taking action on it due to fear keeps you from experiencing freedom in your life.

You cannot truly live a fulfilled life without it.

I want to encourage you to take some time to mull over the quote that started this blog post and go after your freedom.

It belongs to you.

It always did.
