The Beauty in Letting Go

As wind gusts swirl around tree branches, remaining leaves hold tight to their anchor, their home base.

When their time is up or the wind violently plucks them from their tree, they only ever go in elegance, departing to the ground as if doing so was an art form.

There is no kicking and screaming, no shedding of tears, no looking back but only graceful falling with twirls in between.

Fall is a season of juxtapositions.

It is equal parts of bitter and sweet, wistful and joyful, spooky and whimsical.

It is the time of year collectively filled with brilliantly, colored scenes, stillness, sweet smells, and crisp air.

I effortlessly resonate with this time of year because of its contrary yet complementary nature.

Unsurprisingly, an aspect of life it teaches us to find beauty so gracefully is one generally filled with sorrow, turmoil, and fear.

While I have only lived on this earth a short time, I have certainly tasted this poignant facet of life.

This facet of life I am referring to is more commonly known as ‘letting go.’

As ludicrous as it may seem to compare the trials we face in this life with falling leaves, there is much we as humans can learn.

Finding the beauty in letting go has been a reoccurring lesson in my life, mainly because this area is one of my greatest weaknesses.

I tend to hold on for dear life, refusing to accept the inevitable and, in doing so, creating unnecessary pain for myself.

I now realize it is not pain meant for me to experience.

I also acknowledge I am overlooking what is on the other side, patiently waiting for me.

So now, just like the leaves in the fall, I allow myself to let go.

As I let go, I can see the unmatched beauty of new beginnings, peace, and grace that had been expecting me all along.

Beauty for my life I would have otherwise missed out on.

Beauty that also awaits you, if you let go too.
