Through the Storm

When one of life’s storms concludes raging against you and you feel safe enough to step outside to survey the damage it has brought, I hope you remember the strength you possessed that enabled you to keep going, more than you recall every tear-filled night.

As you begin picking up the broken pieces scattered about, may you see that even while storms can be painfully unforgiving, they also tend to uncover the cracks and weaker places of the heart you never knew needed mending.

If some of those cracks and weaker places of the heart were opened up and completely shattered, pick up your broom and dustpan and gently give them your farewells.

It is time. Let them go.

Once your grief begins to lessen, start mending what remains and sowing new seeds in your heart’s soil.

As time goes by, watch as your heart begins to produce a new garden. This time around though, your heart has grown a garden filled with the most beautiful flowers, secured by the strongest of planters, and ready to withstand any storm.

This time, they are here for you to enjoy their beauty. Beauty you have never savored before.
