Just Out Of Reach

selective focus photography of hand

When the days seem like they can only be tackled with laborious steps

And sorrow comes back to visit like an old friend

The sorrow you had stuffed in a cardboard box in the closet of your heart some time ago

When you had enough fortitude to put it away

However, at this moment you are overwhelmed and exhausted by the smallest struggles

Wishing for things to be different, to be easier, to be better

So, you step away to look out your window

And you look at your flowerbed and wonder when the flowers you planted will bloom

Or if they ever will

Or if they are just not meant to

You know that hope deferred makes the heart sick

So, you try to hold on a little longer

Praying that one day those flowers you planted for your life will eventually bloom

And your heart’s longings will no longer be just out of reach.
